We give all dancers an enjoyable experience and a sense of accomplishment at having done his or her very best. We feel the perseverance in any endeavor helps build character and dance training promotes discipline in mind and body. We build self-esteem and confidence as well as teamwork in our students through positive reinforcement.

Armonk Center for Dance company focus is on education first with the ability to spotlight the talent of its members through community workshops and performances. By design this preparation will act as a springboard into a professional career as a dancer, for college and in any career this student may choose.

Company Auditions and Requirements

Auditions are held in May each year for the A.C.D. performing companies as well as the Competition Team. Dancers must have taken at least one year of  the dance style they are auditioning for from the age of seven. (Under the age of seven does not count). It is also encouraged that dancers study as many different styles of dance before auditioning. The older the dancer gets the more years of study they should have under their belt before auditioning.

Tempo Company (grades 4 & 5) is required to study four hours per week which includes Ballet, Jazz, Modern and one hour of rehearsal time. These dancers should have Ballet and Jazz training prior to auditioning.

Flex Company (grades 6 & 7) and Fusion Company (grades 8-12) have a six hour commitment with four technique classes and a two hour rehearsal.

The Modern Company is exclusive onto itself and the dancers study Modern only in this company. They are included in all the above performances. Requirements are 3 hours per week. Members of these companies must also take a ballet class.

The Hip-Hop Company is for those dancers who want to make Hip-Hop your specialty! Requirements are two hours per week.

The Junior and Senior Competition Teams have a seven hour a week commitment with four technique classes and a three hour rehearsal. This team attends several regional competitions and spends the weekends dancing, competing and really enjoying themselves.

The companies perform once a month at festivals and benefits such as Blythedale Children’s Hospital, Dancefest, Stamford and an annual concert at S.U.N.Y. They also attend a fun filled weekend in New York City where they take classes with N.Y.C. professionals, see a dance performance and get to know each other socially. This is a big commitment for the dancers as well as their families but the rewards are plenty!  We are so proud of these young philanthropists who are giving back to their community through their gift of dance!
